1.

Dani Larkin

David

Singer-songwriter and folk artist Dani Larkin returns with a sense of verve on new song ‘David’, a lilting song with strong melodic vocals and a beguilingly arranged switchup in its three-minute running time.

Larkin has been busy on the road trodding a path that has taking the artist to North America, Australia, Korea and Finland, support tour dates with Snow Patrol, Lisa Hannigan, Declan O’Rourke, Ye Vagabonds, Glen Hansard and Wallis Bird, and collaborations with Ulster Orchestra and RTE Concert Orchestra along the way.

There are more dates on the tour this week and next.
07/02 Kilkenny
08/02 Cork
13/02 Dublin
15/02 London

2.

Isaac Jones

Temperature

Real nice crooning indie pop songwriting from Dubliner Isaac Jones who took part in the 32 gigs in 32 counties The All Ireland Tour with Passersby and Henry Earnest in 2023.

3.

Nala Fi

Formless

It’s been a few years since we featured the work of Alan Finan who featured on this site from 2018 to 2021 pretty regularly.

Finan has rebranded his music as Nala Fi but the same exploratory guitar work is at the heart of new song ‘Formless’.

4.

Beano, No Venom

Doomsday

Get busy preppin’ with Dublin rapper and Out-Straight Records’ Beano, on the doom-laden single from the new EP Trap #7.

The EP is produced by No Venom, and features Verb T, Panda Drey and Donkobz.vTrap 7 draws from ’90s hip-hop as an influence, with songs inspired by a trip to Morocco and childhood memories of going to see a film about greyhounds with his dad.

5.

Aik HiFi

Long Groove Damhsach

Soft glow groove dancefloor business from Milan-based Irish producer Harry Foley aka Aik Hifi with a new release that features two takes on the same track.

‘Long Groove – Damhsach Mix’ as the name suggests is the more dancefloor version – sampling a gospel soul song from the ’70s and a Floating Points song too. As well, as that the song was inspired by Theo Parrish and that’s his voice on the track.

‘Long Groove – Mallmhuir Mix’ is a deeper version of this track, Mallmhuir meaning “Slow Tide”

Harry recently released How To Re-Enter A Dream, a 42-minute seven-track collection of ambient electronic music ‘from Milan-based Irish producer Harry Foley aka Aik HiFi “is ‘for drifting, for walking through cities at night and staring at black ceilings”.

6.

GNS

Nite’n’Day

GNS is back releasing solo material after time last year producing and engineering for other Dublin artists, and his answer was to work with others during the day and work on his own work in the evening.

‘Nite’n’Day’ is typical of GNS’s alternative music, drill meets garage meets pop meets rap in a bright cacophony.
