Dose are the four-piece band featuring Lizzie Fitzpatrick (Coolgirl / 7of9 / ex-Bitch Falcon), Australian bassist Lauren Heron (of Merpire), synth player and actor Aoife Spratt, and drummer Nicki Meehan.
We featured their debut single ‘Cuckoo’ last September ahead of their Ireland Music Week performance. That song drew inspiration from acts like DIIV, Cocteau Twins, Beach House, Mount Kimbie, St Vincent, Dry Cleaning, Alvvays, and Slowdive.
Second single ‘Parallelogram’ keeps on that 90s dream pop shoegaze, and synth-pop sounds sound, with a vintage Karaoke clip-themed music video, made by Fitzpatrick.
“I love the karaoke backgrounds and always wondered where they came from,” she says. “I went down a deep hole on Reddit and found a user who shared their drive with about 10GB worth of old karaoke backgrounds.”
“The song is about being caught up in two relationships, emotionally pulled to both sides – stretching out and losing the shape of yourself. I suppose I related myself to a parallelogram – still able to keep a strong base but distorted at the sides.”
