The Belfast alt-rock band Monday’s Child leave a melodic impression on their new single.

‘Over Again’ is a song that has classic indie rock influences, along with a touch of grunge with magnetising soaring vocals.

The band were formed by the McKay sisters Lauren, Jen and Clara, and ‘Over Again’ is the newest single since the release of their debut EP Modern Affair in 2025.

Extended bio:

Monday’s Child are a Belfast alternative rock band with a sound that splits the difference between melodic hooks and something considerably darker underneath. Formed in 2022, the band is made up of sisters Jen (vocals/guitar), Lauren (vocals/guitar) and Clara (bass) McKay, plus drummer Caitlin Lenfestey – with the reference points – The Breeders, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains.

Support slots with Pillow Queens, CRAWLERS and Hothouse Flowers have put them in front of bigger audiences around Ireland, and their debut EP Modern Affair – released in May 2025 – made a strong first impression, picking up a Loud Women Single of the Week for ‘Problem Girl’. The EP launch sold out Ulster Sports Club.

Since then: the band have had a slot at the Output Belfast Showcase at a place on Hot Press’s Hot for 2025 list as one of the Irish acts tipped to make an impact.
