Dublin’s chimney-enthusiast songwriter Lewis Doyle Singer has announced his biggest headline show to date at the 3Olympia Theatre.
Less than two years ago, Lewis Doyle was posting clipped covers of classic Irish songs on TikTok – ‘The Old Triangle’, ‘Oró Sé Do Bheatha Bhaile’, Christy Moore’s ‘Lisdoonvarna’ – and building a devoted following through nothing more than a uniquely R&B trad voice phrasing, a love of the material, the shtyle of a ’90s Boyzone video and the kind of unaffected directness that is disarming.
He’s still doing that, but he’s released some original material, and his reputation has grown and the singer personality is set to play his biggest Dublin show to date.
His first original material arrived in late 2024 with Christmas single ‘The 2 Chimneys’, followed in 2025 by ‘Come Out Ye Black and Tans’ and ‘1916 Girl’ – original songs rooted in the same Irish tradition he built his following on, but clearly very much his own. His live debut at All Together Now festival received strong notice, and a subsequent unplugged show at the London Irish Centre – only his second ever live performance – confirmed he can do it IRL.
Earlier this year he shared the long story of how he parted ways with his management and is now working independently, recording his debut album on his own terms alongside a separate acoustic album. He’s also writing a musical called Independence Boyz. His first ever Dublin headline show at the Button Factory in March sold out quickly.
