The Connemara collective Trá Pháidín have released the second song from their upcoming album album Cloch ‘s Claí.
They previously shared the excellent ‘An Béal Bocht’, which signalled the release of the album on Friday September 25th. via World of Echo.
The album takes inspiration from dry-stone wall, and is satirical look at Ireland’s relationship with its native language and the Gaeltacht, inspired in part by Myles na gCopaleen/Flann O’Brien’s 1941 novel An Béal Bocht touching on tokenism, housing, gentry politics and ribbon developments.
‘Garbhóg’ is the newest song, a taut kosmische enchanted and chanting wonder, and its closest neighbour in terms of how it sounds – is the Welsh band Super Furry Animals’ with the song’s mariachi-approaching horns and la-la-la vocals, similar to how SFA used them on 1999’s Guerilla.

About Trá Pháidín
Trá Pháidín are a mutable collective of musicians who are geographically, culturally and mentally torn between Conamara Theas, Cathair Chorcaí, Ciarraí, Uíbh Fhailí, Sligeach and Port Láirge, active in one form or another since 2019. The music they make, which to date has mostly been self-released, is of an ambitious breadth, embracing traditional Irish absurdity, jazz, folk and krautrock influences, whilst remaining tantalisingly beyond any one specific understanding of either the world around them or even themselves. More defined however, is their overall conceptual approach, focusing upon original Gaelic music and what lies beyond simply “conas atá tú?”.
Trá Pháidín’s An 424 is a full length album written in honour of the bus that goes from Galway city to the Connemara Gaeltacht, inspired by the change of landscape from urban to rural nature.
