French filmmaker and sound explorer Vincent Moon – co-creator of La Blogothèque’s beloved Take Away Shows and the man behind over 1,600 films in his Petites Planètes Collection – brings a one-off live cinema experience to the Fumbally Stables. Moon mixes field recordings from his current Irish tour, collaborating with and filming some of the country’s most celebrated folk musicians, live in the room.

Dublin City Fleadh: Sharon Shannon Big Band, Altan, Dervish @ Smithfield Square (12pm-6pm, free)
Dublin City Fleadh opens across five city centre hubs – Smithfield Square, Meeting House Square, Wolfe Tone Square, Parliament Street and Capel Street – with a free, unticketed programme of traditional Irish music. Saturday’s Smithfield Square main stage brings together Sharon Shannon Big Band, Altan and Dervish, while Meeting House Square hosts an intimate collaboration between Andy Irvine and Quilty. The Weeknd brings the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour to Croke Park for the first of two nights, with Playboi Carti as special guest. One of the biggest pop spectacles to hit Dublin all year – a career-spanning setlist across an enormous production. Second night Sunday.

The standout bill of the weekend – The Scratch and Madra Salach headline Smithfield Square’s Sunday programme alongside Kíla, three of the most distinctive acts reworking traditional Irish music right now. The Scratch fuse acoustic instrumentation with metal’s physicality; Madra Salach bring a Northside pub-gig energy closer in spirit to Lankum’s drone-folk than any standard session. Meeting House Square hosts the Máirtín O’Connor Trio. Free, unticketed, across five city centre hubs. More info.


Beatyard presents Handsome Paddy & Friends @ The Bernard Shaw (4pm – 10pm)
Handsome Paddy is joined by LYNDZ and DAWE for a Sunday session of deep cuts and soulful sounds. LYNDZ, a well-known DJ and veteran of the techno and free party scenes, goes deep in the crates for a set of hip hop, soul and beyond. Joining her is DAWE, an up-and-coming selecta and familiar face around Dublin’s dancefloors, stepping up with a bag full of reggae, dub and soundsystem pressure. Animwal & Ais is also happening at the venue.
