Fair play to Bodytonic for putting this on. Great to see cool stuff happening in Dublin city on a Saturday afternoon. I’ve only managed to make it to one so far. This month’s Beatyard kicks off at 3pm and includes:

- Banter talks with Richard Brophy: Headshop debate, Donnacha Costello on Irish Techno, Steve Reich, Poker Flat & his forthcoming album.
- A screening of Banksy’s film: Exit through the Gift Shop at 5pm (Good interview here).
- Fair: Buy records,CDs and clothing from All City, Beatfinder Records, >Circus Clothing, !Kaboogie, Kling, Littleroom, Skinny Wolves, SkunkFunk & more.
- There’s 3FE on the coffee front with food on sale too.

Niall Byrne is the founder of the most-influential Irish music site Nialler9, where he has been writing about music since 2005. He is the co-host of the Nialler9 Podcast and has written for the Irish Times, Irish Independent, Sunday Times, Totally Dublin, Cara Magazine, Red Bull and more. Niall is a DJ, co-founder of Lumo Club, event curator, Indie Sleaze club promoter, and producer of gigs and monthly listening parties & events in Dublin.
The Beatyard has been a great project for a while now, our inititative, http://www.RealSound.ie has been involved in its little way by giving tutorials and demonstrations in Ableton, Reason and Photoshop and we’ve been delighted by the whole setup from the start. Lively, informal and compelling info and music everywhere you look. We start onstage but usually find ourselves racing from place to place thereafter learning loads of interesting stuff from the assembled crowd. Really looking forward to Donncha in particular this time out.
Cheeky little tip; loiter by the stalls near the end and you’re guaranteed some sweet reductions on records, programmes and books available as those gathered will try and clear their stock. You didn’t hear that from me, mind…
