The Dublin club night Club Comfort presents its seventh birthday bash this Friday night in Yamamori Tengu.
Club Comfort is a night that likes to play with form, state, imagination and reality, through its communications since its inception.
With event descriptions that sound like digital multimedia experiences, liminal dream state art gatherings, radical historic manifestos, and unorthodox inclusive social retreats, it makes sense that the music that the CC residents ( Selky & Roo Honeychild, with previous member Baliboc a key part of their history) play is equally interested in the in-between, the outer rim, the fringe, the sonics beyond the norms, the sounds occupying and soundtracking the underground, in a time where even the underground is at everyone’s fingertips.
Everyone might potentially have the means, but not everyone has the skills, the imagination, the desire or the vernacular.
Club Comfort are always dreaming of a brighter tomorrow that nods to the sways of music culture of the past – and that’s reflected big in their music choices and their party ethos.
Here, they recount some of their highlights and share 10 track choices that encapsulate their wild ride so far.
Club Comfort’s seventh birthday takes place at Yamamori Tengu in Dublin on Friday November 8th, with Selky B2B Lesk and Roo Honeychild B2B Bull Horris.

What are you most proud of with club comfort’s seven years?
There’s so much to be proud of, with our award-winning show Comfort Carnival in 2019 and 2023 standing out as a highlight, drawing pre and post-COVID crowds of over 500 people. However, what we’re most proud of is creating and nurturing a space where people from all backgrounds feel welcome and valued while enjoying some of the most forward-thinking music out there. That is, and always will be, our Modus Operandi
What do you want people to know about CC who have never been to the club?
If you’ve never been before, come down!
Come for the music, but stay for the the warmth, the chaos, but most of all the joy! Our birthday on Friday will be a great introduction.
What’s in store for the future at Club Comfort?
We’ve got something special planned this Friday that’s going to pave a bit of a new direction for the club. Suffice it to say that we’re not the best instagram-posters this side of the Shannon and we’re getting a bit sick of the public-facing online space.
We’ve been very inspired of late by parties and projects like Tacky Cardia, 1815fc, Daylight etc. that are experimenting with a more semi-private, live and direct communication infrastructure. In some ways, it feels like you can do a lot more in the party space when things are a bit more hush-hush. Our end of summer shabang with the Tacky Cardia crew at Brown Mountain Diamond in Kilkenny really brought this home for us. Stall down Friday if you want a piece of that action!
1.
Bring In The Kats – KW Griff
Who knows where the kats are? But we need to bring them in!!
This is bonafide Baltimore Club classic. And has been synonymous throughout Club Comfort lore.
KW Griff has long been a fixture in Baltimore’s club scene, though he’s especially recognised locally for his high-energy track “Bring in the Katz.” This 2010 collaboration with Porkchop gained wider acclaim when it was re-released by Night Slugs as part of their Club Constructions series.
2.
Walk 4 U – DJ Bark Lee
“Walk for me, Walk for me, Walk for me, Walk for me”
Bark Lee (Now Doctor Jeep) took the re-frame from Robbie Tronco’s C*unty iconic vogueing track and flipped it into a choppy Bmore infused smash hit. Pumps in the club for this one.
3.
Bad Girl (Champion Remix) – Addictive
We both have an absolute love for UK Funky as a genre, though it’s sometimes hard to find a track that hits just right during peak time. This one, however, resonates deeply and brings back vibrant memories of past summers—the most memorable being Baliboc playing it at Body & Soul in the summer of 2018 to a packed, sweltering tent of people.
4.
Love Drought (Leonce Bounce Mix) – Beyoncé
This track was played at the very first Club Comfort, and has been rinsed ever since. It encompasses everything we love about club music that can both move you and shake you. The vocal is sad & sxc but Leonce’s Nola Bounce inspired beat is a booty pumper. Be sure to keep tissues close by when listening ;(
5.
IT’S NOT BOKEH BUT ITS BOKEH (BALIBLEND)
It’s not right, but it’s OK. From the depths of CC history, this blend is very strong. It may only exist on 3 or 4 USB sticks.
6.
Canoa – DJ Gregory & Gregor Salto
A secret hero of Selky’s, Dj Gregory has made a multitude of TIMELESS house hits. Canoa has the immense power of being able to be played at any time, on any dancefloor, to any crowd and evoke a reaction.
7.
Clap Clap – Dj Plead & Anunaku
Plead is known for his unique productions and this favourite of ours doesn’t disappoint, thanks to its mix of deep, brooding sub-bass and jungle-inspired vocal samples. The track truly shines in a live setting, hitting hardest when the crowd is fully immersed.
8.
The Underground (Saeed & Palash Addictive Trip Mix) – Celeda
Both of us have a pageant for the underground sound of ‘circuit house music’, an almost indefinable genre sitting somewhere between tribal house and the late night gay rave sonic-aesthetic, but don’t yuck our yum, some of it truly shines. The aptly named “The Underground” by Deleda takes you on a locked groove journey.
9.
Giving Me (Bok’s Dub) – Jazzy
Jazzy is a legend in our book, the biggest Irish female artist on Spotify! This Crumlin by way of Croydon remix is incredible, Bok perfectly utilizes his Amapiano/Funky tool kit to change the form of the track to a shoulder swinging chugger, immediately becoming a CC MUST PLAY. Buy it here on Bandcamp.
10.
ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID – BRLLNT
We’ve played so many iterations of this sample over the years, it is without a doubt THE CC club club CLASSIC, and we love hearing it flipped differently each time, a queer anthem.
