The Dunboyne Diana brings her Euro-Country album to a second US TV Prime Time show.
Recreating the Donegal hills and car donuts of the video for the Eilis Doherty-directed clip for ‘When A Good Man Cries’, CMAT and her Very Sexy band perform on Colbert, marking the second US TV appearance for the singer, after last year’s Gilbert O’Sullivan-inspired performance of ‘Take A Sexy Picture of Me’ (which appears to be gone from Youtube now).
Colbert will stop broadcasting on CBS on May 21st, with reasons cited as financial and the increasingly challenging landscape for late-night television.
Though reports suggest the decision may have been influenced by political considerations – as it was made at the time the parent company Paramount’s was in the process of closing a multibillion-dollar merger with the movie studio Skydance, which required the approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and was around the days after CBS and Paramount agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit by Trump.
CMAT is up for Irish album of the year next week at Choice Music Prize, where she will perform solo.
