David Kitt’s electronic project New Jackson will release a new album on April 19th on Permanent Vacation.

OOPS!… POP will feature collaborators Rita Lynn, Donnacha Costello, Riche “Jape” Egan, Yenkee, Kean Kavanagh,Margie Jean Lewis, Meg Cronin and Fehdah so it’s all-cast affair this time around.

Two new songs ‘Out of Reach’ and ‘The OK Hole’ have been released from the record, which is available digitally and on vinyl on Bandcamp.

It’s the first New Jackson album since 2017’s From Night To Night and there has been a series of once-off releases since.

“Out of Reach was the last track I wrote for the album. I had a version of the album that Iiked but the whole thing didn’t feel quite ‘oops’ or ‘pop’ enough. I had the melody and chorus of Out of Reach knocking around for a while and I wrote and recorded the lyrics and vocals in one long session the day before mastering was booked. It gave the album a shot of pop urgency that made it really gel as a whole. I get a mild bang of Jason Donovan off it but it has giddy techno-pop sugar rush that I really like and it makes it a worthy addition to the New Jackson canon. And hey Jason D via Stock Aiken and Waterman is definitely part of my pop musical DNA.

The OK Hole was written in one two-day session. It features my beloved SP 1200 quite heavily. I’ve never really been in a K-hole but this how I imagine it might feel in a nice cosy one. It originally featured a Flann O’Brien/Brian Ó Nualláin interview in the breakdown but I decided at the 11th hour to go fully instrumental as it just felt a bit jarring and there may have been copyright issues.”

As David Kitt – Not Fade Away reissue:

Also out in the coming weeks is a reissue of David Kitt’s 2006 release Not Fade Away, featuring 8 tracks from the original record lovingly remastered, a re-recording of Say No More and a brand new song Love Someone Else featuring Niamh Regan.
