I didn’t make it to drop the lime but jeez i got ta say Beirut were shit tonight…I regret paying 30 yo-yo to see some feckin’ idiot mumble his way thru hallelujah…amateur isn’t the word…and as for Tripod…it’s taken over from the village as the most appalling venue in dublin…

Agree on Beiruit. It had it’s moments but for the most part just wasn’t good enough. I can I ask what’s the point of having the bass player dance around pissed during the one song that could have really taken the roof of the place? Poor sound, no stage craft, no apparent desire to do anything but take the money and run.

I had fun at Beirut, but I´m not a massive fan so I didn´t have anything to be disapponited by. I thought it was fun, but there was a fine line at the end between being endearing and being a fuck up.
Kenneys was awesome though.

Beirut were disappointing definitely. I definitely feel a little ripped off with the gig. Lack of energy, poor sound , drunk performers.
At the very least, I know they can do better because I caught them supporting Calexico and they were so full of life, jumping into the audience etc.
More importantly..

I must say I’m a fan and I thought beirut was pretty fuckin good. sure they were pissed, and they’ve probably put on better performances, but i went to see them perform a few of my favourite tunes and they did as much, so I was happy. I don’t think it was particularly exorbitant (by pod/ticketmaster’s bloodsucking standards), and due to the hype surrounding the man he’s obviously gonna book a big place for a sell out show and milk it – who wouldn’t? Anyways, I reckon there are plenty bigger cowboys around than Beirut (nialler said crystal castles left their show after a paltry 30mins). In addition he had me in hysterics watching him botch up that party-wrecking tune hallelujah. I do agree with one thing however – Tripod: what a hole…
