The artist formerly known as Smoothboi Ezra, Ezra Williams has returned with a new song entitled ‘Deep Routed’ on AWAL.
The 20-year-old songwriter and musician based in Cork (they / them), has form in releasing singer-songwriter, DIY alt pop music about self-identity, breakups and has examined relationships from an neurodiverse non-binary perspective.
‘Deep Routed’ is a broader sound than previous releases, with an open live-sounding band arrangement, that aims to shake off mistakes off the past in order to make a fresh commitment.
“I wrote this about trying to deal with things from past relationships while also trying to give your all to someone new,” says Ezra, who counts Fiona Apple, Soccer Mommy and Indigo De Souza as influences.
