David Balfe plays the venue for the first time on Friday December 11th.

For Those I Love has announced a headline show at Vicar Street on Friday December 11th, with support from Black Nylon.

David Balfe called it “Champions League final stuff” in the announcement, his only headline show of the year and his first time ever playing the venue.

“Vicar Street is a special place for me and for many,” he wrote. “I walked by its doors every day for years. A dream to play it. Some of my most formative memories took place inside. The person screaming every lyric in my ear so I couldn’t hear a word Jeff Mangum had to say. Being held by friends during countless Damo shows. Lankum’s Billy O’Shea. Barry hanging off the balcony in a primal roar when I won the Choice Award there. I took my first pint of Guinness in Vicar Street (have since left that behind too).”

He closed the announcement on Aslan’s live version of ‘This Is’, recorded at the venue: “If and when the darkness creeps in a little, when I need the warmth of something brighter, something more eternal, you’ll find me going back to the same place… And in those moments I’ll be sure to spread that sun.”
