Dublin post-punk four-piece Gilla Band are back with their first new single in nearly over three on Rough Trade Records.
The new track arrives released as a limited 7″ picture disc and a North American tour running through October and November 2026, followed by European dates in early 2027.
It’s the band’s first single since 2023’s ‘Sports Day’
Vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan Borges, bassist Daniel Fox and drummer Adam Faulkner have spent over a decade redefining what guitar music can sound like in the 21st century – a truly original form of noise-rock all their own.
‘Giraffe’ is noisy in their fashion until it pulsates with more electronic textures, similar to Alan Duggan Borges’ recent side project The Null Club.

Singer and lyricist Dara Kiely says:
“In this track, the first few sections represent what my general headspace is like. It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what I’m actually thinking.
The outro on the other hand indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection towards me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe. “She chased me out the door with a hairbrush demanding that I would wear a suitable jacket.” It’s a very Irish Mammy action. That amount of love is difficult for me to accept but it is a beautiful thing to have in life.”
