Listen to this class pisstake pirate radio show from GIRLI
GIRLI is a London producer and singer who exists in the post-PC Music vein, except with more genuine humour and less art school posing. So more Charli XCX than QT, with ’90s pop and a gleeful anarchic spirit. As much inspired by Spice Girls as anything else.
She has singles with titles like ‘Girl I Met On The Internet’, ‘Asboys’, ‘Girls Get Angry Too’ and ‘So Do You Think You Can Fuck With Me Do Ya’ (“you thought I was going to do a ballad? Fuck off”.)
GIRLI FM 2 is the North London artist’s latest release, a parody pirate radio show and it’s a bit of craic.
Within two minutes, we’ve got the Eastenders theme song, ‘Put A Donk on It’ and Britney and then onto skits of TV shows The Weakest Link and Take Me Out, Skee-Lo, freestyles over Rugrats and pisstakes of Kanye, Taylor Swift and Donald Trump, interspersed with tunes and interludes of her own and a “How to Make a GIRLI Beat” instructional.
