Hear Gilla Band’s Dara Kiely sing on song from new project Stray Planets

Stray Planets is the project of Dublin artist John Butler, who has enlisted the singer for his new single.

‘Glowing Rectangles’ features Gilla Band’s Dara Kiely and Stray Planets is a project by songwriter John Butler that also features production from Rian Trench, engineer Robert Watson and soul artist Sinead McConville.

The track has a bit of an LCD Soundystem meets Super Furry Animals vibe with Trinity Blu Johnson singing vocals on the bridge, and the phone-obsessed video is by Barcelona-based artist Molokolom.

“This song is written from the point of view of someone, namely a child, who sees no downside to tablets/smartphones. It’s an unapologetic celebration of just how wonderfully addictive and brilliant they are.”

Butler

According to the press release, John Butler has been described as “The Charlie Kaufman of Irish rock”.

This is the second single following ‘Down a Hole up a Hill’ last October.
