The early club trend continues.

Next Saturday May 11th, Scottish DJ and producer will be in Dublin for yet the latest in a glut of early club night announcements.

McVicar will play Index in the daytime on May 11th from 1pm to 6pm as part of the ABSOLUT X series.

ABSOLUT X is “a series of clubbing events that celebrate the diversity of what Irish nightlife and club culture could and should be|, and this event is actioning that according to a survey “6 in 10 Irish people call for more day club experiences.”

Early clubbing is here to stay

As we’ve covered here with Guinness hosting Annie Mac’s Before Midnight, and a morning rave with Barry Can’t Swim and Rockshore’s early timed Rudimental gig in Portmarnock this Sunday, brands are getting in on the daytime action, along with club promoters like After Eight and the 30s Plus Club putting on early day time events.

Absolut survey

New research by Absolut says that 6 in 10 people feel that there is a need for more daytime parties, with 50% of people being open to day clubbing over a traditional late-night clubbing experience.

This trend is strong across both Gen Z and millennial groups for a number of reasons including the ability to get a full night’s sleep, a safer environment, a more diverse crowd, and more convenient and cost-effective transport options.

The research also revealed that 63% of people feel unsatisfied with Irish clubbing regulations, with almost half of people (45%) traveling abroad to experience club events you can’t get in Ireland.

Absolut X hosted its first party last year with Denis Sulta in Urban Plant Life in Dublin 8. The survey was based on an online nationally representative consumer study of adults, undertaken in April 2024 by Bounce Insights.

Tickets for Ewan McVicar are available from Dice from Wednesday, May 1st at noon for €15.
