A run of 2026 singles and videos from a Dublin newcomer blowing up the underground has found a big online audience fast, with his latest clip passing half a million views in a fortnight.
Who is earfzilla?
earfzilla is a Dublin artist who has put out five singles this year, from the same underground Irish rap sound world that gave us deathtoricky, beddyminaj and Catacombs, and take inspiration from woozy, self-produced cloud rappers like fakemink and feng, who he supported recently in Vicar Street.
The video for his latest single ‘vintage vuitton’ has surpassed half a million views in two weeks since it was released on September 25th with over 1000 real comments on the Youtube page. The tune is an immediate and short one – with a nostalgic sample that I can’t place from the early 2000s as many of his peers have used, and elements of chiptune (it’s back guys) and hazed rap sounds.
What releases does he have?
Before ‘vintage vuitton’, came ‘backroads’, ’round here’, ‘mitsubishi’ and ‘hennyinmytea’ and a freestyle called ‘christening freestyle’, and the tunes have been getting better and better since he kicked things off in only March this year.
The songs invariably feature buzzed synths electronic production and cloud-rap dynamic touches, drawing on some American lyrical tropes mixed with Irish colloquialisms, much like the visual aesthetic.
