Introducing: Ifan Dafydd – he is not James Blake…

…but the comparison is totally understandable…

I had marked Ifan Daffydd (“ee-van da-vith” in case you were unsure) down as a James Blake copycat a few months ago but the few tunes he has have been worming their way into my ears of late, especially thanks to Jamie xx’s Essential Mix. Welshman Daffydd (obviously) has just released a 12″ on Push & Run records featuring the tracks ‘Miranda’ and ‘No Good’ which was the one that did it for me. It’s an Amy Winehouse rework very much in that James Blake halfstep /post-dubstep (what?), pitched-up sampled vocal style.
