It’s been a while since I’ve written about a Canadian band I’ve been into in a big way so let me clear my throat for Toronto’s Little Girls.
Their new 5-track Tambourine EP out on Paper Bag Records has been on rotation this week and their appearance just adds to the currently confusing glut of “Girl” names: Girls, Dum Dum Girls, Vivian Girls, Parenthetical Girls amongst others. Their sound is delectable lo-fi alt surf-rock with strong catchy underlying pop melodies.
I picked up the EP digitally from eMusic.

Niall Byrne is the founder of the most-influential Irish music site Nialler9, where he has been writing about music since 2005 . He is the co-host of the Nialler9 Podcast and has written for the Irish Times, Irish Independent, Cara Magazine, Sunday Times, Totally Dublin, Red Bull and more. Niall is a DJ, founder of Lumo Club, club promoter, event curator and producer of gigs, listening parties & events in Dublin.
I have given the EP another chance and it is actually pretty good.
I prefer it to Wavves and possibly even No Age.
Heading out to catch some more Canadian talent this evening.
Will holla if it is any good.
Me too so far from what I’ve heard.
This video is hilarious by the way!

It’s been removed!?
Actually, that doesn’t surprise me because the abusive comments were getting out of control (and even funnier).
I just looked at the original Zanger Bob video featuring the actual song.
This is too funny.
You really couldn’t make this shit up.
I like music.
Sounds ridiculously like the Vivian Girls.
Which isn’t a bad thing
