Keep Her Lit Folk & Traditional Music Festival returns to Kilkenny with Lisa Hannigan, Les SalamandAs & more
Keep Her Lit Folk and Traditional Music Festival returns to Inistioge in Kilkenny from Friday August 18th to Sunday August 20th for its second year.
The weekender features headline concerts at St. Mary’s Church in the village this year from folk singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan, the alt-folk duo of The Breath (consisting ofsinger/flautist Ríoghnach Connolly and guitarist Stuart McCallum) ; Kilkenny folk trio Sola, West-Cork based Les SalamandAs and more to be announced across three days.
The three-day festival centres around traditional music sessions, intimate concerts, nature walks, music workshops and a local food & craft market.
This year will see the addition of a heritage walk of Inistioge, storytelling with Seanchaí Jim Maher, set dance workshops and the inaugural Keep Her Lit Céilí hosted by Louise O’Connor of Lasta Dance.
Keep Her Lit is dedicated to the memory of local heroes of Irish music and culture – musician Dave Donohoe and publican Johnny O’Donnell.
Frankie Lane and very special guests will play a free concert on Sunday afternoon in association with Counter Attack – a campaign to raise awareness for cardiac disease and heart attacks.
Headline concerts will take place in the beautiful St. Mary’s Church in the heart of the village on Friday and Saturday.
