The Belfast and Derry trio play Dublin’s 3Arena on Wednesday December 16th.
Kneecap have announced a 3Arena show for Wednesday December 16th, a year to the day since the first of the two sold-out nights they played there last December.
It closes out a year that has been enormous even by their standards. FENIAN went to number 1, and the trio headlined Crystal Palace Park in London in June, their biggest headline show to date, with The Mary Wallopers, Biig Piig, Gurriers, Madra Salach and Fat Dog on the bill. They also topped the bill at All Together Now and at festivals across Europe over the summer.
FENIAN was produced by Dan Carey, brought in to make something built for rooms this size, and it moves through acid house, trip-hop, dubstep and 90s rave, with Radie Peat of Lankum, Kae Tempest and Palestinian rapper Fawzi guesting. As I wrote in my review, the band came out of a year of court dates, cancellations and political pressure sounding like none of it broke them.
The album also contains ‘Irish Goodbye’, Móglaí Bap’s song about his mother, which arrived with a 12-minute short film directed by Thomas James.

Given that last year’s first 3Arena date sold out on the morning it went on sale, a second night would not be a surprise.
