First listen: Spies’ new EP – Sea Creature
Sea Creature is the latest release in the discography of the Dublin indie-rock five-piece band Spies and it also marks the evolution of a band who have held much promise over the last few years.
With the five-track EP, the song’s atmospheric rock machinations and lyrics that advance beyond most in substance. Heard highlights include the title track and the sumptuous ‘Quincy Morris’. Also of note: the throwback of ‘The Holidays of Jed Barlett’ lifted by modern production and the Horrors-esque closer ‘November Sky’.
The Sea Creature EP is out on 12″/digital on Trout Records. The band play Whelan’s on Wednesday night.
