The soundtrack to the documentary Life Support is out today on vinyl on Battle Box, curated by the film’s producers and 3D (Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack).
All profits from the 13-track record go to the Health Workers 4 Palestine solidarity fund.
The album features original score compositions from Del Naja and Habib Shehada Hanna, alongside new and selected tracks from Yasmine Hamdan, Kneecap, 47Soul, Siba and Monkyman, Aar Maanta (Hassan Nour), Massar Egbari, and The Five Techniques, whose track features Paul Weller, David Holmes and Róisín El Cherif. Kneecap’s ‘Palestine’ appears in a 3D remix.
Directed by Daniele Rugo and narrated by Denise Gough, Life Support follows a team of medics working in Gaza over two years. With international journalists barred from entering the territory, the film’s makers say the medics became independent witnesses to events there. It had its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest this year, has been nominated for a British Independent Film Award, and is on theatrical release in the UK and streaming via Curzon, Apple TV, Prime Video and YouTube.

3D said it was humbling to be asked to compose work that could “enhance a second-hand experience” of the realities faced by the volunteer medics and Gazan civilians, while also lifting up the resilience of the film’s subjects. Rugo said the music honours the words and images without overpowering them.
