The Shamen

Boss Drum (Beatmasters Tribal Buzz Mix)

From the Boss Drum The Beatmasters vs Youth EP – From 1992, literally pennies on Discogs and worth all ninety nine of them for this one mix. Fail-safe tribal drum work-out carried with dreamy chants – it’s a must for when the party feels like one swirling mass of bodies in it for the duration.

2.

Imogen Soundsystem

Paloma (Darshan Jesrani Remix)

Metro Area stylings, sunny vibes proliferate on this one. You might hear this on one of our summer adventures – boat, beach or club…

3.

Alessandro Adriani

Matter & Memory

Mannequin Records label owner and synth maestro delivers his trademark darkly wavey arpy goodness on a Rapture Italy V/A EP. With only few elements it holds ferocious pace – just right for when things are tipping into darkness…

Grad u & Eazystyle MC

Kasdienybes Sventykla (Vocal Mix)

A dub intervention to cool things down mid set. To compare to the ineffable Rhythm & Sounds Burial Mix Series might be a bit reckless but I’ll take the flack.

5.

Patrizia Pellegrino

Musica Spaziale (DJ Asshole Assid mix) (Miss You)

Bought in May, not played until July. This one was a record bag lurker but is fully OUT now. Mid-tempo chugging acid blended with slivers of the original to such surprising effect – perfect transitional record for the warm-up tailing off and the energy lifting forever. Party time announcement.

GAEG

Bonne M

Upcoming on Optimo Music. Guitar freak out, disco overload, sampling one of the biggest bands of all time. Will we get away with it?

7.

Jephté Guillaume

Sove Yo (Save Them) (Duke And Jephté Electronic Version)

The world needs more beautiful music, less banging tunes. This one manages to do a bit of both but deffo focuses on the beautiful.

Shadow Pressings

Train Of Fools

White label goodness. AI is going to mean a deluge of revamped all time classic vocals but when done this well, I’m all aboard. Deep Aretha Acid vibrations.

9.

DOP

Future Le Funk (Remake)

I used to play this in the mid 90s, forgot about it for nearly 30, years and then, oddly, it came to mind again the other week. Works equally well all this time later and I always get asked about it.

10.

Parris

Why Can’t Rabbits Wear Cowboy Boots.

I recently heard Parris DJ for the first time and it was the best set I have heard this year. He is no slouch in the studio, either.

Optimo (Espacio) play Jameson Connects The Circle stage at 10pm at All Together Now on Saturday August 3rd in Waterford. Buy tickets.
