Premiere: Listen the debut EP from Popical Island’s new Galway band Dott
After debuting themselves to the world in January, Galway garage band Dott have shacked up with Popical Island on their debut EP release. Mining the same ’60s girl-harmony rock ‘n’ roll DIY aesthetic that the Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls amongst others have been exploring of late, Dott also includes hat tips to ’90s alt-rock groups like Throwing Muses. All four tracks are kept very much on the distorted lo-fi buzz but the band’s penchant for a pop chorus shines through the static.
Upcoming gigs: Roisin Dubh, Galway May 17th. Eamon Dorans on the Green, Dublin, May 18th. Bourkes, Limerick, May 24th.
