Cuban-Irish singer Qbanaa has released a music video for her recent single ‘ Shrink’.

Directed by Produced by Qbanaa and directed by Andrew Asco (Khakikid & Carsten2X’s ‘Underbite‘ and Bricknasty’s ‘Fashion’), the video explores “the personification and surrealism of struggles with eating disorders and addiction through kaleidoscopic imagery, using tinsel as a symbolic motif.”

Qbanaa - Shrink (Official Music Video)

“I chose tinsel as the secondary character because you usually associate it with colourful nightlife and parties. It represents a dirty little secret masked in the illusion of loud confidence. It sort of becomes the main character in the end. Which is what life struggling with this felt like at times. Disillusion, a total car crash. I think Raye made a really good point that women don’t tend to speak about addiction struggles because it’s still seen as a taboo or unfeminine. I’d like to shine more of a light on that in Dublin. I see a lot of people far and close to me struggling but too afraid to talk about it in case they’re judged poorly when it’s something very (silently) common.”
