Silent Alarm Revisited
Ok, so what’s new about this I hear you ask. Well, nothing really, I won’t lie. In the mass hysteria surrounding A Weekend in the City, I’ve gone back and had a listen to Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm. Everyone knows it, and many like it, but if you haven’t heard Silent Alarm Remixed, get it. For every time I listen to the first album, I listen to the remixes somewhere in the region of around 15 times. Some quality efforts from various contributors, but I’m sure you’ll find post after post on this elsewhere. So, I’ll leave you instead with my personal favourite: Four Tet’s incredible reworking of “So here we are.” Fingers crossed this should blow you away – you’ll also find it on the excellent Four Tet Remixes and Remixed, an album equally worth checking out… Well, ok then, here’s a sublime taster of that too – a smashing mix of an Aphex Twin tune from Selected Ambient Works 2, “Saw 2.”
