Diehard Boards Of Canada fans aren’t happy. So far, there’s been cries of ‘sacrilege’ , ‘crude’ and ‘naive’ but obsessives aside, this track in which Solange Knowles sings over Boards Of Canada’s ‘Left Side Drive’ is actually pretty sweet. It’s always good to hear two styles collide and create something new out of the mix.
It’s not the first time Beyonce’s little sis has sang over Boards Of Canada, she actually worked with them on her second album Sol-Angel on a song ‘This Bird’ which sample BOC’s ‘Slow This Bird Down’. She said the following about ‘Left Side Drive’ :
“It’s completely unofficial, and was just inspired by the song which i have had a deep love affair with for years.I am a huge Boards of Canada fan, and got the chance to work with them on Sol-Angel on ‘This Bird’. Still feel honored to this day.”
