I’m delighted to announce that my first ever self-built iPhone app is now available in the App store. The State.ie app showcases the latest in the site’s content: news, reviews, a latest photo gallery, audio playback for mixes and podcasts, video playback for State Interventions and listings and more.
After been quoted some exorbitant prices for development, I went ahead and built it myself with big help from Taplynx. The plan was to do an Android version too and time permitting we will. Also, I’ll be working on a Nialler9 app shortly. Thanks to Heineken Music for sponsoring the app so we could keep it free.

Niall Byrne is the founder of the most-influential Irish music site Nialler9, where he has been writing about music since 2005 . He is the co-host of the Nialler9 Podcast and has written for the Irish Times, Irish Independent, Cara Magazine, Sunday Times, Totally Dublin, Red Bull and more. Niall is a DJ, founder of Lumo Club, club promoter, event curator and producer of gigs, listening parties & events in Dublin.
That’s pretty impressive to make your own app! Well done on that score.
