Sziget Festival adds FKA Twigs, Lil Simz, The Last Dinner Party and more to the lineup this summer

Avatar

The Budapest festival has announced 50 more acts for its summer edition this August.

Joining headline acts Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, A$AP Rocky, Anyma and undercard names like Justice, Caribou and Nelly Furtado are the likes of FKA Twigs, Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, Empire of the Sun, The Last Dinner Party, Amelie Lens, The Joy, Sevdaliza, Bartees Strange and more.

Sziget takes place August 6th to 11th, with each night showcasing a distinct lineup, across a number of stages, with an increased focus on electronic music with a new nightlife area, the Delta District, adding 3 stages and new artists this year.

SSziget’s diverse programme features well over a dozen stages and dedicated spaces for music, theatre, cabaret, comedy, art and a beachfront.

You can pick and choose a run of dates to attend or individual days along with your city break.

The festival is among the biggest in Europe drawing crowds from 100 countries, and billed as the island of freedom as it’s on Óbudai-sziget island in the city of Budapest, presents itself as a defiant celebration of “love, acceptance, tolerance and freedom” a solidarity that is particularly needed right now in the face of Hungarian president Viktor Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ banning of Pride events.

In recent years, the government demanded that the LBGTQ+ stage at the festival Magic Mirror be made inaccessible to anyone under the age of 18, which they resisted.
