salute, Jessie Ware

Heaven In Your Arms

Ahead of his show in Dublin next week, salute dropped a shimmering collaboration with vocal diva Jessie Ware. The tune’s disco-spinning gospel house and French Touch vibe are perfect for Ware’s wheelhouse.

2.

Primal Scream

Ready To Go Home

Speaking of gospel, you can hear it in the opening track from Primal Scream’s twelfth album Come Ahead, a part return-to-form with production by David Holmes and influences from funk, punk and gospel.

As a friend remarked, there’s a big bang of Chk Chk Chk (!!!) off the first half of the album, a surprising and nice thing to discover.

Come Ahead is the band’s first album in eight years.

There’s a cracking Terry Farley & Wade Teo Dub Mix of this too.

They play Dublin in April.

3.

Helena Hauff

Multiplying My Absurdities

Some trademark Helena Hauff techno acid crunch, released on 12″ on Tresor.

I’m not a techno guy but Hauff’s analogue electro-techno productions are the closest I get to it, and the Hamburg DJ was so good playing a similar style on vinyl this summer at Beyond The Pale this past summer.

4.

John Glacier

Found

2024 was a year that features getting to know the evocative electronic and vocal productions of London experimental rapper, producer, and poet John Glacier, whether it’s the nebulous guitar-chugging experimental rap amble of ‘Money Shows’, the bass hit punctures of ‘nevasure’ or a Vegyn collaboration.

With ‘Found’, John Glacier announces her 2025 debut album Like A Ribbon, via Young on February 14th. The song sounds like a sub-bass club track with a piano line disintegrating like a memory.

The album is executively produced by Kwes Darko, and features Flume, Mk.gee contributor Andrew Aged, Surf Gang, Eartheater, Sampha and more.

pem

ellipsis

Bristol-based artist Emily Perry’s unique and intriguing voice continues to be a dominant strength on the once-off single.

“It’s called ellipsis because of those three dots at the end of the sentence that leave things unresolved. Ellipses aka grand miscommunications and aversions to concrete endings”.

I featured the song ‘grips’ in July.
