For the second year in a row, the annual Grafton Street Christmas Eve Busk that draws a big crowd and big names to the Dublin city street to sing and raise finds for the Dublin Simon Community can not take place in person this year.
That fact is a huge issue for the charity when the Busk brings in a lot of money to help those who are homeless, and it means that they have to make up €1.5 million fundraising gap.
To encourage people to donate, #TheBusk will be broadcast on the Simon Community Youtube channel at 9pm on Christmas Eve.
The performance, shot by Collective Films, will feature Glen Hansard, Bono, Damien Rice, Lisa O’Neill, Cormac Begley, Liam O’Maonlai and many more Irish musicians performing from St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
People are invited to donate at simonbusk.ie.
“Donations will help us to keep the doors open at Simon Communities across Ireland to provide essential supports in tackling homelessness, and delivering homelessness prevention initiatives,” said the charity.
Watch #TheBusk on Dublin Simon Community’s YouTube channel at 9pm on Christmas Eve December 24th or below.
