Upcoming gigs: Edan/Dagha, Percee P, Guilty Simpson, Cool Kids, Aesop Rock
Some shows worthy of notice by promoters Choice Cuts, particularly Edan & Dagha on the 16th of March. Edan’s last gig in Crawdaddy was considered to be one of the best gigs of 2006 so don’t miss this.
Happening on Valentine’s Day, a Stones Throw Hip-Hop Love party featuring Percee P and Guilty Simpson in the Village. Percee P’s album Perseverance came out late last year and was largely slept on so pick up a copy. Also out is a Madlib-conducted remix album of Perseverance.
As for Guilty Simpson debut album Ode to the Ghetto (out March) features a plethora of established producers including Madlib, Oh No, DJ Babu, Black Milk and the late great J Dilla.
Don’t forget DJ Krush, Hot 8 Brass Band and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings for your soul power. Outside of Choice Cuts, Aesop Rock drops in to Crawdaddy 2nd of February and ten days later, Cool Kids make their Irish debut in the same venue. Tickets here, MP3s below.
