Villagers for in-store tour and new song ‘You Lucky One’
Conor O’Brien’s sixth Villagers album That Golden Time is out on May 10th on Domino.
‘You Lucky One’ is the second single reveal after the title track last month.
The song features Dónal Lunny (Planxty, The Bothy Band) on bouzouki, and is about about a dubious promise of riches between two parties.
“Who is using who?” asks Conor O’Brien. “I think it explores the often-simplified notion of privilege.”
It features a video made by O’Brien, his directorial debut.
“The video, much like the song, is a complicated, messy affair full of hellish landscapes and internal demons. It exists in a world conquered by irrational beings and emotional, selfish creatures. Corruption of the soul and disingenuous motivation are the order of the day, so I thought it best to serve with a side plate of the macabre and sinister.”
