I’ve been listening to a lot of ambient music in the morning this week thanks to a) a new iPad and b) Shuffler.FM’s ambient category. One of the nicest things that came up was Villages‘ ‘Before Failures’ courtesy of The Needledrop, just the kind of considered noise; swirling synth notes, gentle bass and a repeating guitar lilt, made for a morning’s dazed daydream.
Villages is Ross Gentry, a North Carolina composer who is releasing Theories Of Aging on Bathetic Records (home to Angel Olsen) next week. Here’s an interview and mix with him.
