WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 7TH:

UCC Battle of the Bands Heat 3 @ Cyprus Avenue (8pm, €2)
Who will join youngbloods Crojayn and Central Hall in the finals? You decide. Metallers Aponym, indie crowd Pretty Happy and Kill ’em Charlie are in the running.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 8TH:

UCC Music Department Showcase @ O’Riada Hall, UCC Sunday’s Well (1pm, free)
Free performance from UCC’s music department’s current crop of students as part of Tradfest, happening on campus around the city all week.

Seán O’Riada Memorial Lecture @ O’Riada Hall, UCC Sunday’s Well (5pm, free)
This year’s lecture, part of UCC Tradfest, sees Ciarán Ó Gealbháin of the Folklore Department, UCC and past member of Danú, speak on the Déise song tradition.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9TH:

Mongoose @ Sirius Arts Centre (7.30pm, €20)
Indie-folk four-piece from Dublin come to Cobh as part of Sirius Suppers, a series of dinner-and-live-music affairs showcasing local food and new Irish music. Food from 7.30, tunes from 9.

Shhh and Dance @ An Spailpín Fánach (8pm, €5)
Technomermaids & Elaine present minimal, deep house and techno upstairs in South Main Street’s musical stronghold.

Ealadha @ The Roundy (9pm, €5)
Cork post-metallers help launch new single ‘Bathe’, with support from heft merchants Partholón. Presented by local alt-rock/metal blog Overblown.

The Moonstomp @ The Sextant (9.30, free)
Ska, two-tone, rocksteady and other such boot-shining delights on offer courtesy of Bob Skavna and Ian Fiasco. Start stompin’.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 10TH:

The Cork Songwriters Club @ Hollyhill Library (1pm, free)
The latest in a series of occasional meet-ups in the Northside’s newly-built library for budding and working singer-songwriters. Tea and chats, as well as exchanges of ideas.

David O’Doherty @ Connolly’s of Leap (8pm, €20)
The big boss of keyboard-based comedy goes back under the hammers for round two. There are sure to be results.

Anna Mitchell @ Levis’ of Ballydehob (8pm, pass-the-hat)
Following a pair of sold-out show in Coughlan’s this week, Anna Mitchell heads to Levis’ to play with longtime friend Marie Danielle, making the journey from New York.

The Underscore Orkestra Trio @ The Friary (8.30pm, free)
Klezmer, Balkan and gypsy-jazz from a stripped-down lineup of some regular visitors to the city, upstairs in the city’s biggest little venue.

I Am the Cosmos @ The Roundy (9pm, €8)
Dubland electronic duo headline Saturday night at the home of Plugd Records, after last year’s ‘Nothing But Love’ EP. Support from Trick Mist, tunes after from County Vinyl DJs.

South Main Beat @ An Spailpín Fánach (9.30pm, €5)
Fierce dungeon boss Darren Kelly and visual artist Jesse Hallway team up for round two of their new audiovisual night in the Spailpín.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11TH:

Beyond the Wash @ The Kino (1pm, free)
The newly-re-reopened Washington St. venue continues its new series of Sunday afternoon gigs with an acoustic folk duo influenced by R&B. All-ages.

GNOD (R&D) @ An Spailpín Fánach (8pm, €10/€8 unwaged)
Salford, Manchester-based collective members Paddy Shine and Chris Haslam head on excursion to the Spailpín to continue their R&D tour for new tunes, textures and live methods. Support from Woven Skull and Sioraí Geimhreadh.
