Irish producer Niall Mannion aka Mano Le Tough has been bubbling under the radar for a good few years now, making small moves to make a name for himself in his hometown of Berlin at clubs like Panorama Bar and occasionally back in Ireland (he’s originally from Greystones). He played a Stephen’s Day gig in the Twisted Pepper a couple of weeks ago. Aside from that he’s remixed the likes of Roisin Murphy, Flowers & Sea Creatures and released EPs on Everything But The Girl member Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly and Munich label Permanent Vacation, home to John Talabot, Midnight Magic, Sally Shapiro, Tensnake and others.
With a full-length debut LP, Changing Days, on the way via Permanent Vacation on February 22nd, Mano will be a lot more visible in 2013. Like Talabot’s Fin, Changing Days will be more song-based than the textural and affectional house Mano is known for.
“I guess I try and make music that has an emotional resonance without being overly sentimental or schmalzy. It means a lot to me to try and connect with the listener on a deeper level and add something to their lives that’s more than a hands in the air 5am moment in a club (although there is nothing wrong with that).”
Mano’s Resident Advisor mix does much to cement his DJ skills but also suggests Changing Days will be a gamechanger for Mano. From small moves to big movements.
