5 great new songs to love this week

Just five great new jams I love this week.

See the New Music section for individual posts on tracks.

Biig Piig – ‘Feels Right’

Biig Piig keeps coming correct this year, while moving away from her jazz rap roots. ‘Feels Right’ is a big tune – one that moves between anthemic pop and a funk dance banger. It seems 2021 could be a breakout year for the Irish/Spanish artist. This is like a low-key Future Nostalgia off-cut.

Feels Right’ is a track about the energy of a night out. I miss going out so much. The feeling of letting go and being surrounded by sweaty people; meeting strangers and one-night romances; the tunes and ecstasy. Feel like pure shit just want her back :'(. So we made ‘Feels Right’ with that in mind. The closest we can get to that feeling again right now is writing about it.”

Sabrina Bellaouel – ‘The Build Up’

As a Libra, I endorse this. The French-Algerian producer and vocalist Sabrina Bellaouel comes through with some Kelela R&B electronic from her upcoming Libra EP on InFiné. Create balance.

Fousheé – Single AF

The New Jersey artist Fousheé arrived in the summer with ‘Deep End’ , a track that SZA and Noname were vibing along to picking up a Spotify Viral top 50 global placement thanks to a freestyle Tik Tok video featuring the vocals that took off.

Now signed to Trackmasters/RCA Records, ‘Single AF’ is the kind of cool debut solo single that marks a one to watch for 2021.

Gotts Street Park – Favourite Kind Of Girl

Channelling the kind of live R&B jazz cool as the likes of BadBadnotGood and Khruangbin, the Leeds group Gotts Street Park set out their own stall with vocalist Flikka on this vibey cut from their EP out on November 27th. They previously produced for Mabel, Celeste, Yellow Days, Kali Uchis, Grentea Peng and Rejjie Snow.

Roosevelt – Feels Right (Gerd Janson remix)

There’s never a bad time for a Gerd Janson remix and when it’s the really remix-friendly German artist Roosevelt, then even better.
