In an interview in this month’s Dazed & Confused, Stockholm’s Ellinor Olovsdotter bka Elliphant says she began her music career by accident after drunkenly stumbling onstage in Goa and grabbing the microphone, delivering an impromptu performance that impressed an Indian band in the audience enough to bring her on a tour.
That’s the backstory of Elliphant as Ellinor told Dazed. That info probably doesn’t help the feeling that Olovsdotter’s project is an exercise in artifice but fuck it, if you wanted to dance in a club, this is the kind of tune you’d want on the speakers.
