John Barker’s new music night Tilt returns next Tuesday May 27th at the Button Factory.
#34 in the Tilt series will also be a live podcast recording where two Irish artists Karla Chubb of Irish rock band Sprints and pop artist Chubby Cat will both perform live in a stripped back set and be interviewed by Barker on tage.
Tilt #34 takes place in The Button Factory on Tuesday May 27th 2025 featuring two hugely talented female artists – Karla Chubb & Chubby Cat.
The night will also feature footage of some of the more memorable performances from previous Tilts and music related prizes will be given away to lucky members of the audience.

Karla Chubb (Sprints)
Karla Chubb is frontwoman of the band Sprints. Sprints are one of the most exciting and talented garage punk bands to come out of the Irish music scene over the last few years. The band released their debut album Letter To Self in January 2024. The album featured several hit singles and was nominated for this year’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize. Sprints signed to UK label Nice Swan Records in 2021 before joining the roster of Berlin label City Slang. They’ve received significant airplay from BBC 6 Music with presenter Steve Lamacq being one of their biggest fans. Sprints are currently touring the UK before a busy summer of festivals awaits them.

Chubby Cat
Chubby Cat is a talented alt-pop artist who introduced herself to the Irish music scene in 2021 with the release of three singles. Her single ‘Big Dog Barking’, released in 2023, was nominated for the RTÉ Choice Music Prize ‘Song Of The Year’ and she was named as one of RTÉ 2FM’s Rising Artists For 24 in 2024. Her brilliant debut EP ‘The Fine Art Of Disassociation’ was released towards the end of 2024 with 5 tracks showcasing Cat’s talent as a vocalist and lyricist.

Tilt is a free monthly music showcase event held in The Button Factory curated by John Barker and produced by Steve Caffrey and The Sound Training College.
The aim of the live events is to highlight the best in Irish music talent while also providing training for students pursuing a career in the live music industry.
The showcase event was founded in Oct 2019 and has been ever-present in The Button Factory. It’s the longest running regular ‘full band’ music showcase event in Dublin. Over 100 acts have performed at Tilt since 2019 including Sprints, Gurriers, Curtisy, Tolü Makay, Yankari, Shiv, Tebi Rex and Annie-Dog.
