The Australian sampledelic group playa DJ set at Centre Point on Saturday November 14th, a month after releasing No Bad Memories, their first album in six years.
The Avalanches have announced a Dublin show at Centre Point on Saturday November 14th, with For Those I Love in support. It is the Irish date on their No Bad DJs EU tour, which also takes in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.
Tickets on sale Friday 10am.
The show follows the release of their fourth album No Bad Memories last Friday, October 16th. We covered it in our albums of the week roundup.
No Bad Memories
It is their first album in six years, following 2020’s We Will Always Love You. A sprawling 31-track collage, it picks up the sample-stitched, sun-blind maximalism of Since I Left You and Wildflower, this time with a concept underneath: the overlap of advertising, memory and nostalgia. Jingles, sonic logos, commercials and the hums of old technology are turned into warm, euphoric portals back to childhood and collective memory.

The guest list includes Karen O, John Glacier, Rivers Cuomo, Barry Can’t Swim, Jamie xx and Loaded Honey, alongside Ryoji Ikeda, Portraits of Tracy, Yellow Magic Orchestra’s Haruomi Hosono and Suzanne Ciani, who helped build the sound of brands like Coca-Cola and Atari. Lead single ‘Can’t Get Over Losing You’ features Portraits of Tracy, and the centrepiece ‘I Give Everything I Have 2 U’ has a one-take video starring Haley Joel Osment weaving through Shibuya traffic. Osment also voices some of the album’s fake ads, as does Mike Patton.
I’ll admit the record didn’t land with me immediately. It makes sense that the band behind Since I Left You would evolve their methods, but bringing the sample-frenzied style into a modern DAW and applying the tropes of 21st century dance music left it sounding like a hyperactive mash of what you’ve heard before, with advert interludes bricolage, I intially found annoying but listening again, the process of the overload of information is easier to digest and the album becomes more enjoyable. I still wish the album was a mixed DJ vibe like their seminal 2001 debut Since I Left You but perhaps that’s just personal preference for a smoother journey over the sonic flitting between tracks that happens throughout.
The road to the album
The album followed a teaser campaign built around a fictional company called Takumi, a new logo and a retro-futuristic role-playing game. In May they returned with ‘Together’, featuring Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss, their first new music since 2020, with a video by Jonathan Zawada featuring a floppy disk and an iPod galloping in front of a rising and setting sun.
They have also been busy on the live front. They DJed at All Together Now 2026 and added to AVA London’s September programme.
Dublin’s For Those I Love, whose second album Carving The Stone was one of our best Irish albums of 2025, is a fitting local support.
