The Belfast trio return home for a Féile an Phobail benefit show on Thursday August 6th, raising funds for two Irish language community projects.
Kneecap are set to headline a charity gig at Falls Park, Belfast on Thursday August 6th, as part of this year’s Féile an Phobail. The Uppa Falls concert will see all profits split between two Irish-language community projects in West Belfast and Derry.
The gig will be supported by punk duo Bob Vylan, along with Miss Kaninna and Liambo Slice, both hand-picked by Kneecap for the bill.
The bulk of the proceeds go to Glór na Móna, the Irish language, community and youth organisation based in the Whiterock and Upper Springfield areas of West Belfast, where Kneecap members Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap are from. The money will go directly towards Croí na Carraige, the group’s planned Irish-medium youth and community hub.
The concert will also benefit Seán Dolan’s GAC in Derry’s Creggan, home of the band’s third member DJ Próvaí. The club plans to use its share of the funds to launch An tSíol, an Irish language initiative hub offering community programmes and classes for adults and younger players.

Both Kneecap and Bob Vylan were investigated by police over comments made during their respective sets at Glastonbury last year, with Avon and Somerset Police later confirming no further action would be taken against either act due to insufficient evidence.

On the bill:
Kneecap are the Belfast hip-hop trio of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí, who rap primarily in Irish and have become one of the most talked-about acts to come out of Ireland in recent years, as much for their politics as their music.
Bob Vylan are the London punk duo known for their confrontational grime-punk hybrid and outspoken political messaging. The pair recently announced they are suing the BBC following the fallout from their Glastonbury set last year, during which one member led chants of “death, death to the IDF.”
Miss Kaninna is an Aboriginal singer who supported Irish Kneeca on 18-dates of their UK and Europe tour.
Liambo Slice – the Belfast rapper rounds out the bill as one of the newer names on the lineup
Tickets for the Uppa Falls concert go on sale Monday July 13th at 10am via Ticketmaster.ie.
