Dublin Halloween Festival hosts a free evening of gravestones, speeches and shared memories for Ireland’s closed clubs, venues and cultural spaces on Wednesday October 28th.
Last Orders, part of the Dublin Halloween Festival, is billed as a wake for Ireland’s lost nightlife and cultural spaces. It takes place at Pawn Shop on Dame Street on Wednesday October 28th from 6pm to 9pm, with free entry.
The evening has three parts: an exhibition of gravestones commemorating Ireland’s lost venues, a set of short speeches, and an open space for attendees to share the places and memories they miss. The organisers’ instruction is “No flowers necessary. Bring a memory.”
The speakers are Sunil Sharpe, Emmet O’Brien and Ellen Webb. If there is a venue you want remembered, you can tell the organisers about a place you miss through the festival site.
Dublin Halloween Festival runs from October 10th to 31st, billed as a month of strange things happening across the city. Last Orders is produced by Alternative.Agency, and you can browse the full programme on the festival site.
