The Chats have announced a headline show at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Saturday October 9th 2027, as part of their Half Cut ’27 tour.
The Queensland punks, who played two Dublin shows in March 2025, return with their third album Half Cut, out on March 5th 2027. It follows 2022’s Get Fucked and is the first album by the band since then, which marked the debut of guitarist Josh Hardy alongside bassist and vocalist Eamon Sandwith and drummer Matt Boggis.
The album was recorded in a week of sessions in Santa Ana, California, between a US tour with The Hives and a Coachella appearance this year, and produced by Jay Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb. Sandwith says the songs take a more nuanced approach than before, with tracks such as ‘Drinking For Two’, ‘Turpentine’, ‘Prove You Wrong’ and ‘Falling Down The Stairs’ on the record, although they still sound “utterly, absolutely and unabashedly like The Chats”, as the band’s press release puts it.
