The Cope have shared the video for their song ‘Low’, dedicated to the lighting designer Conor Biddle, who contributed to the project before his death in April 2025.
David Anthony Curley wrote the lyrics in 2022 as “a rationalisation and response to my mood, my affect, my approach to my own general mental health”.
Joe Furlong says the song is about being stuck at a crossroads between a difficult truth and the fear of what saying it aloud might cost. “Feelings don’t exist in a vacuum,” he says. “Contrasting emotions give greater context to one another, and life is all about finding the balance.”
The video was made in 2024, with Biddle contributing his lighting. The band describe him as one of the most singular creative forces they’ve worked with, a collaborator and friend, and in a real sense a co-author of their visual world.

Since his death, the same words and melody carry grief for him alongside everything they held before. The release is dedicated to Conor, and it’s one of the last things he worked on.
“Do you feel it sometimes? It’s some kind of low.”
“Some songs take years to find what they’re really about.” – The Cope
