Lisa Hannigan has announced a special “And Friends tour” for Ireland later this year.
Prompted by a show at the Irish Arts Center in New York earlier this year, Lisa Hannigan presents An Evening With Lisa Hannigan & Friends for five shows around Ireland this November.
These fully seated performances will feature a reimagining of Lisa’s music and will be her first major headline shows since the release of Live in Dublin in 2019.
Lisa will perform with Theodora Byrne (vocals), Yuki Numata Resnick (violin) and Clarice Jensen (cello), Karen Crowley (Krea) (vocals), and Jane Patterson (vocals).
Lisa had had a wonderful experience working with Theodora Byrne Ensemble lockdown project on Theo’s vocal arrangement of Lisa’s “We the Drowned’ which set off the whole idea of arranging some of Lisa’s songs in such a different way. Lisa had met Yuki Numata Resnick through Aaron Dessner who produced At Swim and knew of Clarice Jensen through People festival, and had previously enjoyed collaborating with Karen Crowley (Krea) and Jane Patterson on Irish shows together.
Together in New York they had a one day immersive rehearsal to create a whole new show with four performances in total, each very different in their set list. “The show grew in character, content and confidence every night,” says Lisa, “like an immersive life rehearsal with an intimate audience of friends. The power of time and space to create was evident and felt by everyone performing and experiencing these songs in such a beautiful empathetic setting. I am delighted to be bringing this show back home to to recreate some of the magic that we did in New York.”
