Awards! Prizes! Remixes!
- The Choice Music Prize nominees have been announced and it was the reason for Sinead’s secrecy about her top Irish albums as she’s one of the judges. Anybody who voted in the nialler9 Top Irish albums poll may be interested to see the list of nominees as 6 of the 10 acts were in the top 10 as voted by you guys.
Director – We Thrive On Big Cities (Atlantic)
The Divine Comedy – Victory for The Comic Muse (Parlophone)
Duke Special – Songs from the Forest (V2)
The Immediate – In Towers and Clouds (Fantastic Plastic)
David Kitt – Not Fade Away (Dublin Discs)
Messiah J & The Expert – Now This I have to Hear (Inaudible)
Fionn Regan – The End of History (Heffa)
Republic of Loose – Aaagh (Loaded Dice)
Si Schroeder – Coping Mechanisms (Trust Me I’m A Thief)
Snow Patrol – Eyes Open (Fiction)I just hope Snow Patrol don’t win it as it’s not like they need the €10,000 prize money. My money’s split on Fionn Regan or The Immediate. As many of the acts as possible will play at the event on February 28th in Vicar Street. €25 for some of the best Irish acts around on the same night in the same venue? Sounds good.
- Another Top 20 Irish album poll act, Miriam Ingram is releasing a remix version of her album Trampoline entitled Trampolonica. It will have remixes from Herv, Dunk from Ambulance, Fairlights, Decal, Lakker, The Last Sound and more. Thanks to Una for the info!
- The nomination process for the Irish Blog Awards are now open. Head over and nominate your favourite Irish blogs (including this one obviously). There are 21 categories including Best Blog, Best Music Blog, Best Sport & Recreation Blog, Best Designed Blog, Best Newcomer, Best Podcaster and more. Give props!
