apple A selection of random yet quality-assured remixes that have passed through my inbox in the last few weeks that you might like featuring Joe Goddard, Four Tet, Delorentos, Wolf Gang, Gaggle, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, The Field, Gold Panda, Brassica, Chromeo and St. Etienne.

Last week, Joe Goddard of Hot Chip released the Apple Bobbing EP containing tracks from his Harvest Festival album which also featured this Four Tet rework.

Starfucker are now known as Pyramiddd and they are in the UK from tonight for their first European dates. This is a B-side to forthcoming single Medicine – taken from the band’s Jupiter EP. They’re active on the Twitter too.

MP3: Pyramiddd – Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second (Strategy remix)

The Boners weren’t the only band to remix S.E.C.R.E.T. by Delorentos, as The Expert from MJEX also put his own spin on it recently.

Last week I asked my Twitter followers for their submission to a newTwitter mixtape or Twixtape for short:

What’s your perfect summer song for 2009?

There was about 50 responses or so and I had a great time collating as many tracks as I could for the mixtape below. There’s some crackers and belters right here: That Classixx Phoenix remix, the Alice in Wonderland electronic song, Atmosphere’s summery jam, the stupendous ‘So Far to Go’ from J Dilla, the clattering boogie funk of Dam Funk, an excellent tune from Wave Machines, an acoustic Yeah Yeah Yeahs a classic from Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and up-to-date indie hits from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Girls.

If I didn’t include your song, it’s because time or legalities didn’t allow it. Enjoy the mixtape. Hopefully, some of these songs will soundtrack your summer..

On Monday, I’ll be heading towards independent music heaven in Austin, Texas where roughly 1800 bands will be playing at the SXSW Festival both officially and unofficially. The last few weeks and the weekend has and will be spent frantically RSVP’ing to parties, organising a schedule and listening to artists playing. I cannot frickin’ wait..

The SXSW website has an MP3 from nearly every band officially playing and I’m going to draw from the list to show off who I’m looking forward to seeing over the next week. The ten artists I’m most looking forward to right now are (subject to change, obviously): Devo, King Khan and the Shrines, Solid Gold, Here We Go Magic, Amanda Blank, Magic Wands, Little Boots, Casiokids, Grizzly Bear and StarFucker.

There’s also the Irish showcases which I’ll be covering for Day and Night (updated today). I’ll be posting a blog on more SXSW stuff before Monday as well as two podcasts, so for now, enjoy the songs. Also, piece on MP3 blogs by Richard Brophy with quotes from me in today’s Irish Times.

Alaska in Winter – Berlin

Alela Diane – White As Diamonds

Arsenal – Estupendo

Bang! Bang! Eche! – To The Floor

The Golden Filter – Solid Gold

Kap Bambino – Red Sign

Lemonade – Big Weekend

Dent May – Meet Me In the Garden

Magic Wands – Black magic

Radioclit – Kamphopo

Starfucker – Pop Song

Continued after the jump.
