Banksy, Twink, Joanna and Tunng
A few things of interest in the past few days….
- Banksy’s been in the news this week first off for a few reasons. Firstly he doctored 500 copies of Paris Hilton’s album and placed them in various music stores in the UK. Pictures of the doctored CD cover including Paris’ dogs head on her body and homeless people photoshopped into the inlay are here. I’m loving the song titles “Why am I Famous?”, “What Have I Done?” and “What Am I For?”. The track is actually a 40 minute Banksy/ Dangermouse collaboration which contains samples of Paris from her show ‘The Simple Life’. Download it here.
- Well in addition to showing some of his stuff in 4 Dame Lane for the next month, Banksy also hit Disneyland this week, placing a mannequin resembling a Guantanamo inside a theme park attraction. Photo above and on the Wooster Collective site.
- You’ve all heard the Twink tape right ? Thanks Warlords. Well now somebody has done a remix! Go to the brilliantly titled MySpace page – http://www.myspace.com/twink666 or download “Zip up your Mickey” from here. Look at the MySpace page as well though.
- Thanks to Palms Out Sounds for letting us know about Mos Def’s arrest at last weeks VMAs for performing a song about Hurricane Katrina – ‘Katrina Clap’.
- Tunng play Whelans on the 4th of November. They’re due a post soon.
